Eligibility Criteria 

  1. An individual who is unemployed and currently looking for a job.
  2. An individual who has got terminated from their job but they were not at fault.  
  3. Before applying for the claim, you must have worked for at least 400 hours in the last 52 weeks. 

Maximum EI Payment Amount

The Employment Insurance Amount is calculated at the basic rate of 55%. The EI payment amount is calculated by the number of hours you have worked in the past 52 weeks. Your annual income also plays a vital role in calculating the Employment Insurance Payment Amount. After 28 days of successfully submitting your application, your initial payment gets issued.

EI payments are received every 2 weeks after the first payment. There are two ways of receiving the EI payment:-

  1. A cheque via email-  If you do not want to opt for direct deposit, then you will receive the EI payment through cheque on your mail. You need to keep your email information updated in the CRA account.
